![]() ![]() It's just two devices that know how to run TCP over the MOCA Coax Freqs. as long as your MOCA adapters are compatible and you have Moca Freq capable splitters. and MOCA and Fronteir / Fios are not really related. but not sure what will actually happen then. those are supposed to go away in Dec/Jan. I've still got the Frontier one sitting in a box. not sure what is going to happen if fronteir ever needs to send a tech out to look at my router. just that initial boot has to be on the .x network.Īnyway. they don't need to pull a config each time they boot. After that was all setup, I removed the frontier router, put my linux box back up in it's 'router' config and then when the quantum DVR and the client STB rebooted, they booted fine with the 10.12.14.x network config. I had to have the Frontier FIOS Router setup on the .x network and get the client/slave/non-dvr to pull it's inital setup / media config over the .x. The Frontier STB are hard coded to get their initial config from the .x. My home network is on the 10.12.14.x network. ![]() but that is partially because I am not a normal user. VOD, DVR, Guide, remote access via frontier phone app, etc. this device is the 'magic' that replaced the frontier router and allows for TV stuff to work.Īll of my STB/DVR TV functions work. I don't use the Wi-Fi part of the WCB3000N. This device lets the Quantum STB/DVR get an IP Address via the COAX network and provides TCP connectivity vie the COAX network. Quantum STB ( client/slave/non-dvr ) connected via Ethernet to my home network.Īctiontec Single Dual-Band Wireless Network Extender and Ethernet Over Coax Adapter (WCB3000N) ($22 at amazon ) connected to the COAX network and connected via ethernet to my home network. Quantum STB/DVR connected via COAX to ONT ( TV Channels come via COAX to the DVR ) STB pulls a DHCP address on my home network via the COAX network. I can tell you what I've got setup.Įthernet from the ONT to my own router ( linux box ) When I went back to FiOS, simply plugged in the CAT 5e from the ONT into the G1100 WAN port.Ĭan't answer all of your questions. When I was on Spectrum, I have a home run coax from the TAP, to a cable modem, then to the WAN port on the G1100. I have switched from Fios to Spectrum and back over the years with this setup. RG6 -> (some old netgear moca 1.1 adapter) -> their Roku Ultra in a bedroom RG6 -> ECB2000 ->Netgear R6400v2 in my in-law house in the back of my property for my tenants. I get 800mbps up and 750mbps down wired on this device. RG6 -> ECB2000 -> Amplify Alien Router (this is my main wifi in my living room which is the most central point in my house). One of the LAN ports on the G1100 -> ECB2500 -> RG6 (this goes to one of the ports on a 2.5GHz splitter I have outside). I could switch to any router and still maintain what I have below. The answer is yes, I do have the G1100 but it does not use its built in MoCA capabilities. I have piece-mealed the adapters over the years. What I have is a mixture of MoCA adapters. ![]() I don't know which one is better, but they all seem like they're plug in and play.Īm I able to ditch the Verizon/Frontier router for my own and add three Moca 2.5 adapters to my network, while maintaining the necessary connectivity for FiOS TV? Is there a guide on how to do this? So far, I'm seeing three MoCA 2.5 adapters which look promising: Actiontec, Tripplite and GoCoax. I would love nothing more than to get rid of my Actiontec equipment and use something better. In all three bedrooms, the connections are split, one to TV and one to either my G1100 or two Actiontec Moca Bridges.īasically, I've been hearing about these MOCA 2.5 adapters. Mind you, I also have FiOS TV, to which is obviously connected through MOCA. With that, I'm a little confused as to how or if my network would still work as desired.Ĭurrently, I'm running COAX into one three bedrooms, one has the Fios quantum router (G1100), which I'm only using for DHCP, its wireless is shut off, since I connected it to a secondary router which has a USB 3.0 port for attached storage. I've read that basically when you do this, it now connects through Ethernet, not Coax. I was thinking about replacing my Verizon/Frontier router with my own. ![]()
